This is the second in a series of three videos on Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido.
This video features the ten techniques of this classical style of sword drawing which are performed in the seated posture of tatehiza. As well as providing a clear demonstration of the techniques themselves, the actual meanings and implications behind the techniques are brought out and illustrated in dramatised form. These ten techniques were introduced into Muso Shinden Ryu by the 7th Grandmaster Hasagawa Eishin in the early 18th century. They are performed in 'tate hiza', the seated resting posture of the classical samurai that was often adopted when wearing light armour. |
